IRVINE, California, August 2. THE final day of the USA Swimming junior nationals will feature Caeleb Dressel in the 50 free, in what is likely a rehearsal for the senior nationals in a few days in the same pool.

Dressel’s goal could be Vladimir Morozov’s meet record of 22.13 from 2010, which would require a drop of nine hundredths of a second from his lifetime best of 22.22 from last year’s junior world championships. He’s the only swimmer with a seed time under 23 seconds, as Michael Andrew has the second seed with a 23.08.

Carmel Swim Club is primed for another junior national title, as Amy Bilquist is seeded first in the 50 free ahead of Nation’s Capital Janet Hu. This is likely a test run for Hu as well for senior nationals, as she is set for multiple events later in the week.

Also on the program are the women’s and men’s 200 IMs, featuring top seeds Kim Williams and Curtis Ogren. Both won the 400 IMs on Friday and could take their second wins of the meet.
