Heat Sheets Out For Final Day of Prelims at 2017 FINA World Junior Championships

Check out the heat sheets for the sixth and final day of prelims at the 2017 FINA World Junior Championships in Indianapolis. The competition begins at 9:30am EST.

The final day of prelims will be a long day of 200’s – scheduled events include the me’s 200-meter backstroke, the women’s 200-meter breaststroke, the men’s 200-meter butterfly, and the women’s 200-meter freestyle.

Also included are both the men’s and women’s 4×100 medley relays, as well as the first three heats of the men’s 1500-meter freestyle. The last and fastest heat will be swum at finals in the evening.

Spain’s 400 IM champion Hugo Gonzalez is the top seed heading into the heats of the men’s 200-meter backstroke, seeded with a 1:57.00, which is faster than the current championship record in the event.

Team USA’s Zoe Bartel will be looking to assert her dominance as the top seed in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke, as will second-seeded teammate Ella Nelson.

100-meter butterfly gold medalist Kristof Milak of Hungary holds the top seed in the men’s 200-meter butterfly by almost two seconds over number two Antani Ivanov of Bulgaria, and four over the next closest competitor. Team USA’s Nick Albiero and Andrew Koustik will be in the running to make the final heat as well.

Hungary’s Ajna Kesely will match up against Canada’s Taylor Ruck, Korea’s Easop Lee, and Russia’s Irina Krivonogova in the women’s 200-meter freestyle.

In the third heat of the men’s 1500-meter freestyle, Japan’s Tatsuki Shoike and Australia’s Jacob Vincent have almost identical seed times – the heat is shaping up to be an exciting race before the final heat in the evening.
