The heat sheets have been posted for day three finals at the FINA World Junior Championships in Indianapolis. The session begins at 6 p.m. ET.

Of note, Regan Smith of the United States had scratched the 50 fly semi-finals. She would have had between 10 and 15 minutes between that race and her 200 back final, so the move does make sense, considering Smith placed in a tie for 13th in the 50 fly prelims and is heavily favored for gold in the 200 back final.

Australia’s Jordan Brunt was the other scratch after prelims, pulling out of the 50 free. That eliminated the need for a swim-off to break a tie for 16th between Russia’s Arsenii Chivilev and Brazil’s Rodolfo Moreira.

The full session for the evening finals includes:

  • Women’s 50 fly semi-finals
  • Men’s 50 free semi-finals
  • Women’s 200 back final
  • Men’s 100 fly final
  • Women’s 100 breast semi-final
  • Men’s 50 back semi-final
  • Women’s 100 free final
  • Men’s 800 free final
  • Mixed 400 free relay final

Top seeds for the finals include Smith in the women’s 200 back, Russia’s Andrei Minakov in the men’s 100 fly, Japan’s Rikako Ikee in the women’s 100 free, Russia’s Iaroslav Potapov in the men’s 800 free and Canada in the mixed 400 free relay.

In semi-final action, Michael Andrew of the USA is seeded first in both the 50 free and 50 back after breaking World Junior Records in both events in prelims.
