Ledecky’s scratch makes Vien Nguyen the top seed in the women’s 400 IM, and Mabel Zavaros moves into the A-final. Ledecky will now focus on the 200 free, in which she qualified first for the final.
The only other scratches of the day came in the women’s 200 free, where Hali Flickinger and Cierra Runge both withdrew, putting Mallory Comerford and Katie Drabot into the A-final.
That leaves notable names like Blake Pieroni (men’s 200 free), Amanda Weir (women’s 50 free) and Anthony Ervin (men’s 50 free) all sitting in the ninth-place position.
Top seeds for the finals session include Jay Litherland in the men’s 400 IM, Park Tae Hwan in the men’s 200 free, Melissa Postoll and Jacob Pebley in the 200 back and Simone Manuel and Michael Andrew in the 50 free.
The session begins at 7 p.m. ET.
