The women’s 500 free is highlighted by Texas A&M’s Sarah Gibson, accompanied by teammate Sycerika McMahon. Mitch D’Arrigo of Florida leads the men’s event, while South Carolina’s Fynn Minuth and Akaram Mahmoud return as the second and third place seeds in the men’s event.
Tennessee freshman Meghan Small will look to hold off Texas A&M’s Sydney Pickrem in the women’s 200 IM, while Chase Kalisz of Georgia will look to hold off a strong field of competitors on the men’s side.
Olivia Smoliga of Georgia posted the only sub-22 second swim of the morning in the women’s 50 free to return as the top seed. She is buoyed by teammate Chantal van Landeghem and Tennessee’s Madeline Banic, both of which produced 22.00 swims this morning.
Florida’s Caeleb Dressel returns as the top seed in the men’s 50 free by close to half a second. Dressel turned in a time of 18.51 in prelims, but will look to challenge his SEC record of 18.23.
The men’s and women’s 200 free relays will be swum as timed finals events. On the women’s side, Georgia is seeded first with an entry time of 1:26.79. However, on the men’s side, the competition is much closer as four teams enter with seed times of 1:17.
