Grevers Family Announces Third Child, Boy on the Way

Matt and Annie Grevers announced they are expecting their third child.

Annie Grevers made the announcement on Instagram.

“Due on his daddy’s birthday, baby BOY Grevers! This boy is already so loved by his big sisters. Bring on another gargantuan Grevers kid!” she wrote.

Matt and Annie have two young daughters, Skyler and Barbara, and this will be the first boy in the family.

Matt Grevers is a four-time Olympic gold medalist and one-time silver medalist.

“The out look of being a parent is putting everything into perspective,” Grevers said. “Swimming is everything, then when you have kids and are forced outside of the swimming bubble and it makes the bubble a little smaller. You can’t let your mood affect your kids after a bad race or bad practice. You can put your energy into being a good parent even if things aren’t going well in the water. I am addicted to improvement, so improvement as a father is a win.”

Annie Grevers, née Chandler, swam for the University of Arizona and won the 100 breast at the NCAA DI Championships in 2010. She was also a member of six NCAA relays during her college career as well as part of Arizona’s NCAA Championship title team in 2008. She represented the United States at the Pan Pacific Games in 2010 and at the Pan American Games in 2011, where she won the 100 breast.

Matt walked away from active competitive swimming after the 2021 trials, to the tune of a thunderous ovation by the nearly sold-out crowd in Omaha.

“I almost started crying. That was amazing. This sport has been so good to me and fans have been so supportive. My family members, friends, it has just been a warm embrace all the way through,” Matt Grevers said. “To get a standing ovation even though I got sixth was amazing. It shows people appreciate not just me the swimmer and my performance , but me as a person and that means more to me than any performance I have had. Thank you so much fans — that meant a lot.”

Now, his focus (and Annie’s) is on their growing family.
