Daniel Rutledge of Grapevine High School and Mid-Cities Arlington Swimmers in North Texas has given his verbal commitment to the Oklahoma Christian University Eagles. Rutledge cites OC’s stellar leadership and authentic community as compelling factors in the decision.

Rutledge, a four-year letterman and AP scholar, levels AAA speed in the 100 FR, 200 FR, 500 FR, 800 FR, 200 IM, and 400 IM by USA Swimming’s National Time Standards. Additionally, his 50 FR, 100 FL, 100 BK and 200 BK competitively clocked AA last season.

As a sophomore, he took his 50 FR and 100FL to the 2015 TAPPS DII State Championship placing 4th and 5th, respectively. As a junior, he was a four-time finalist at the 2016 UIL 5A State Championship in the 200 FR, 500 FR, and both the 200 FR, 400 FR relays. He represents an immediate, versatile contender for NCAA Division II swimming.

“I have great confidence in the opportunities for personal growth and excellence at Oklahoma Christian. What an incredible privilege to swim under Coach Davis and be a part of what God’s doing at OC.”

With several record-breaking swims in Texas, Rutledge also carries a track record for exceptional relay performances through the years – a testament to his ability to perform under pressure with high regard for his teammates.
