The “article” concerning Hyland’s Earache Drops and Tablets does not contain scientifically validated information. Although not labeled as such, it seems to be an advertisement.

Earaches associated with colds (upper respiratory infections) are often acute otitis media. The vast majority of patients have intact eardrums. Placing drops in the external auditory canal would not be expected to reach or help relieve fluid or infection in the middle ear, the location of acute otitis media.

The treatment of acute otitis media is beyond the scope of this comment. Swimming world should clearly label advertisements as such. If this is an article rather than an advertisement the author should source materials before publication
