Gardner-Webb vs. North Carolina-Wilmington

WILMINGTON, North Carolina, October 15. UNCW's men and women's swimming teams combined to win 19 events in sweeping in-state rival Gardner-Webb on Seahawk Head Coach Dave Allen's birthday.

The Seahawks improved to 3-1 on the women's side and the men evened their record at 1-1. The meet was the season opener for the Bulldogs.

Anna Munger, the two-time reigning Colonial Athletic Association swimmer-of-the-week, helped the cause with a pair of wins in the 50 and 100 Freestyles. Munger posted times of 23.96 and 52.14 seconds, respectively. She also swam the third leg of the winning 200 Medley Relay.

On the men's side, senior Mike Smiechowski captured top honors in both the 500 and 1000 Freestyle. Smiechowski swam 4:47.35 in the 500 and added a time of 9:47.55 in the 1000.

UNCW exhibitioned the final six events of the meet.
