Gabi Brito Entered in Seven Events for Junior Nationals (Psych Sheets)
In between the United States National Championships and the Pan Pacific Championships, the William Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, California will play host to the Junior National Championships. The meet will run from August 3-7 and the psych sheets for the meet have been released by USA Swimming.
Gabi Brito, a rising star from California, is entered in seven events. If she doesn’t scratch any of her entries, Brito will contest the 50-meter backstroke, 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle. Brito is seeded no lower than third in any of her events, and owns five No. 1 seeds. Also in girls’ action, Emerson Callis the top seed in the 400 individual medley, behind an entry time of 4:42.39.
In boys’ competition, David Sammons sits atop the entries in the 200 butterfly, with a seed time of 1:57.98, while Brayden Capen is the lone sub-2:00 entry in the 200 backstroke. Capen is seeded at 1:59.02, more than two seconds faster than his nearest competitor.
Qualified for the Junior Pan Pacific Championships and currently racing at Senior Nationals, University of Texas recruits Audrey Derivaux and Luka Mijatovic are each entered in one event apiece. Derivaux will compete in the 200 butterfly while Mijatovic will race the 100 freestyle.
