Futures Qualifier Ellie MacPhail Selects University of the Pacific

NEW COMMIT: Shaker Heights, Ohio native and Futures qualifier Ellie MacPhail will head to the West Coast in the fall of 2021 after verbally committing to the University of the Pacific.

She told Swimming World:

“I am so beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of the Pacific! I am so thankful for my coaches, friends and family’s endless support that has made this possible:) go tigers!!”

MacPhail does her club swimming with the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins and last competed at Lake Erie Seniors where she finished fourth in the 100m free and fifth in the 400m IM. She also placed third in the 100 free and 12th in the 100 back at theNed Reeb Invite in December.

In summer 2019, she recorded two best times at Cleveland Sectionals before going on to final in the 400m IM at the NCSA Championships.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.90
  • 100 free – 52.41
  • 200 free – 1:51.27
  • 500 free – 5:01.06
  • 100 back – 57.45
  • 200 back – 2:04.20
  • 200 IM – 2:09.73
  • 400 IM – 4:31.68

Also competing for Hathaway Brown High School, MacPhail is a six-time individual Ohio State Championship finalist. She placed sixth in the 100 back and 10th in the 200 free as a junior while taking seventh and sixth, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season. 

MacPhail will make a big impact when she suits up for the Tigers as a member of the Class of 2025. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 200 free, 500 free, and 400 IM at the 2020 MPSF Championships.
