Following their first meet of 2016 against the University of Florida in Gainesville on January 2, four Florida State swimmers and divers captured the ACC Performer of the Week honors.

Despite the loss to No. 4 ranked Florida, Connor Kalisz and Tyler Roberge nabbed the honors on the men’s side. Florida State fell short to the No. 11 ranked Gator women, but Meg Brown and Cassidy Gebhart earned the recognition for their efforts.

Kalisz won the 100m back in 57.95 soon after leading off the Seminoles’ 400m medley relay in a 57.55. The sophomore also came in second in the 200m back (2:05.17) and third in the 200m IM (2:09.86).

Freshman Brown swam to a second place finish in both the 200m fly (2:19.05) and the 200m IM (2:25.41). She registered a fifth place showing in the 200m back (2:22.67), and led of FSU’s 400m medley relay with a time of 1:07.58.

Junior Roberge collected his second Male Diver of the Week award after winning the 3m with a season best score of 393.60. The Seminoles swept the 1m diving event, in which Roberge was the runner-up in with a score of 318.68.

Gebhart also collected her second Female Diver of the Week honor as she led the Seminoles in both diving events. The freshman placed fourth in both the 1m (268.21) and the 3m (283.05).

“We made some progress this weekend,” FSU head coach Frank Bradley said in a Florida State press release. “I’m happy with the way the team competed and I’m glad our kids could be awarded.”

The Seminoles return to the pool on January 8-9 as they host ACC rival University of Louisville.
