FSU Earns Pair of Verbals From Cooper de Ryk and Kyle DiMatteo
NEW COMMITS: Californian Cooper de Ryk and Florida’s own Kyle DiMatteo have announced their verbal commitments to swim at Florida State University.
Cooper de Ryk
He’ll make the move east from Truckee, California where he swims for Truckee Tahoe Swim Team. He’s a senior just over the border in Nevada at Truckee High School.
Swimming at last spring’s Nevada 3A High School state championship, de Ryk was a dominant force, winning the 50 free (20.16) and the 100 fly (49.87). He’s the high school state record holder in that 50 free. He was also a 50 freestyle finalist at 2016 Winter Juniors. A four time member of the Sierra Nevada Zones Team, de Ryk is primarily a sprinter. His top times are:

- 100 Free 45.01
- 100 Fly 48.99
- 50 Back 23.70
- 100 Back 52.73
De Ryk wrote,

Kyle DiMatteo
DiMatteo is from Lake Worth, Florida where he swims for Lake Lytal Lightning. He’s a senior at Park Vista Community High School.
He’s strongest in sprint events where his top times are:
- 100 Free 45.67
- 50 Free 21.14
- 50 Fly 23.31
- 100 Fly 51.45
- 200 Fly 1:54.35
At Futures this summer DiMatteo was a two event finalist, finishing fourth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free. At last fall’s Florida 4A state championships DiMatteo finished fifth in the 200 free (1:41.83) and was runner up in the 100 free (46.08).
