NEW COMMIT: Tulane University has reeled in their second verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond from Futures qualifier Sydney Mullin of Haddenfield, N.J.

She will join Istanbul, Turkey native Olcaytu Hatipoglu as a member of the Green Wave’s Class of 2026.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Tulane University! I am very thankful to the people who helped me get here such as my coaches, family, and friends! ROLL WAVE!!!????”

A freestyler who gets faster as the distance gets longer, Mullin does her club swimming with the Jersey Wahoos and most recently picked up six new best times at the 18&U Winter Championships last month. In Summer 2019, she finished fifth in the 800m free at Middle Atlantic LCM Seniors before going on to notch three lifetime bests at Eastern Zone Seniors.

Her best times include:

  • 100 free – 53.10
  • 200 free – 1:52.11
  • 500 free – 4:55.69
  • 1000 free – 10:11.36
  • 1650 free – 17:00.26
  • 400 IM – 4:27.37

Currently a junior a Haddonfield Memorial High School, Mullin is a four-time individual New Jersey Meet of Champions finalist. She placed seventh in the 500 free and ninth in the 200 free as a sophomore while taking 10th and 14th, respectively, in those events during her freshman season.

Under head coach Leah Stancil, Tulane finished fifth overall in the team standings at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships. Mullin would’ve scored in the B-final of the 500 free and 400 IM as well as placed in the top-14 of the mile at last year’s conference meet.
