Alexander Santana has verbally committed to Boston College. Santana is a mid-distance to distance freestyler. The Californian will head across the country in the fall. He is a senior at San Diego’s University City High School and swims for Pacific Swim.

He said of his decision,

“I chose Boston college because of the awesome coaches and absolutely amazing team atmosphere. I can’t wait to swim for BC for the next 4 years. Go eagles!”

At the 2016 CIF-San Diego Section Division II championships, Santana won the 500 freestyle. He then finished tenth at the California state meet in a best time.

His best times are:

  • 200 free 1:43.11
  • 500 Free 4:31.22
  • 1000 Free 9:40.12
  • 1650 Free 16:14.11

At the 2016 ACC Championships, Boston College had two swimmers in the 500 freestyle. Santana will be a good training match for Keating Mosher (4:35.63), who he will overlap with for two years. The second swimmer, Anthony Richardson (4:32.26) will graduate this May.
