Franklin & Marshall Earns First 2019 Verbal From Willem Stoll
NEW COMMIT: South Salem, N.Y. distance freestyle specialist Willem Stoll has handed Franklin & Marshall College their first verbal commitment for the fall of 2019.
Stoll swims year-round with Empire Swimming and concluded a successful long course season with seven top-10 finishes at the Florida International Swimming Championships which included a gold medal in the 1500m free. A current senior at John Jay High School, he finished second in both the 500 free and mile at the Metropolitan Age Group Challenge in March after achieving 100% lifetime bests at the Speedo Holiday Cup last winter.
He told Swimming World:
“Franklin & Marshall is a truly amazing school with programs for exactly what I would like to study, as well as an amazing swim team that is like a family! I’m very excited to swim and study along side them! Go Diplomats!”
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:47.41
- 500 free – 4:51.91
- 1000 free – 10:02.34
- 1650 free – 16:39.35
When he suits up for the Diplomats as a member of the class of 2023, Stoll will add valuable depth to a training group that includes Brendan Cline and Jack Sinton. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 500 free and his mile would’ve placed top-8 at the 2018 Centennial Conference Championships where Franklin & Marshall took fourth overall in the team standings.
