Fran Crippen and Bill Rose Talk About the State of Open Water Swimming on The Morning Swim Show, June 17, 2009

PHOENIX, Arizona, June 17. FRAN Crippen, the first member of the USA men’s world championships swim team, and Mission Viejo Nadadores head coach Bill Rose are the guests on today’s interview segment of The Morning Swim Show.

Crippen talks about his rise in the ranks of open-water swimming since he started in 2006, how open-water swimming has kept him in the sport and why his coaches have been instrumental in his life. He also talks about his sisters and how he’s been able to stay in touch with his older sister who lives close to him.

Rose, who has a long history of success in open water swimming, talks about the reasons why open-water swimming is enjoying a surge of popularity and what sets apart a good pool distance swimmer from a good open-water swimmer. He also details the history of the Swim Meet of Champions and how far it’s come in more than 30 years.
