Four More Records Collapse at Clovis Speedo Sectionals

CLOVIS, California, July 22. FOUR more meet records fell at the Clovis Speedo Sectional last night. The men and the women accounted for an equal amount of standards set during the fourth night of long course meter swimming.

Micha Burden of Mission Viejo lopped two seconds off Yuen Kobayashi's meet record of 4:19.45 in the 400 free when she touched in 4:17.10, while De Anza Cupertino's relay clocked a 3:52.06 to beat the club's meet record of 3:53.21 set in 2005 in the 400 freestyle event.

On the men's side, Jason Lezak turned in a 22.48 readout in the men's 50 free to eclipse the 22.97 set by Gabriel Woodward in 2006. Meanwhile, Chad La Tourette of Mission Viejo crushed the 400 free meet standard of 3:57.09 set by Larsen Jensen in 2004 with a time of 3:54.21.

Other individual winners included Fiona O'Donnell-McCarthy of De Anza Cupertino in the women's 50 free (26.43), Kate Dwelley of the Terrapins in the women's 200 IM (2:17.65) and John Criste of Mission Viejo in the men's 200 IM (2:08.57).

Additionally, Rose Bowl Aquatics won the men's 400 freestyle relay in 3:32.01 with Kevin Kuhn, James Gillette, Andrew Muller and Lezak comprising the squad.
