Brendan Santana has verbally committed to the University of Notre Dame. Santana is a butterflier and a backstroker who swims with Pacific Swim in San Diego, CA.

Santana said,

“I chose Notre Dame because I connected with the team from the beginning and the athletic and academic combination is hard to match anywhere else in the world. I’m excited about the future of Notre Dame and am excited to a part of the ND family. Go Irish!”

This summer he swam the 100 and 200 butterfly and 100 backstroke at Speedo Junior Nationals. He finished tenth in both butterfly events.

Representing University Swimming High School at the 2016 California CIF Swimming and Diving Championships, Santana was third in the 100 back (49.18) and the 100 fly (48.20).

His best times are:

  • 50 Back 23.17
  • 100 Back 49.18
  • 50 Fly 26.15
  • 100 Fly 48.20
  • 200 Fly 1:48.60

At the 2016 ACC Championships, the Fighting Irish finished seventh. Santana would have been a C finalist in the 100 and 200 butterfly at last year’s meet.

Wise decision to commit to attend Notre Dame. It is a very special place associated with a culture rich in history and traditions. You will be recognized and appreciated for your accomplishments and cheered for your continued hard work by everyone associated with the university. While you be a student for only four short years, you will have the honor of being an alum for the rest of your life!
