Five-Star Austin Brown Names College Destination

REDLANDS, California, October 30. ANOTHER California school just got richer in the Class of 2009 as five-star prospect Austin Brown, who swims for the Redlands Swim Team and preps at Redlands High, has made his decision.

Brown, who owns U.S. Olympic Trials cuts in the 100-meter fly (55.04) and 200-meter fly (2:03.68), is on his way to the University of California to swim for Dave Durden.

"I had to experience Cal-Berkeley in person before realizing that it is definitely the right school for me," Brown told Swimming World. "There is an energy on deck, in the pool and around campus that is amazing. Cal has earned the highest respect in their academic and aquatic programs, and I look forward to being a part of both traditions. Go Bears!"

Brown joins fellow five-star Tom Shields as the first two public Class of 2009 pledges for the California men's program.
