Five Minutes Posing For Photos at a Swim Meet? Not an Issue For Matt Grevers

GOODYEAR, Arizona, March 4. OLYMPIC gold medalist Matt Grevers could barely walk 10 feet at the Goodyear YMCA Aquatic Center last weekend without being asked to pose for photographs with fans of all ages. And like the gentle giant he is, Grevers was always glad to oblige between swims at the Arizona short course senior championships.

Shortly after placing second to Roland Schoeman in the 100 freestyle on Friday, Grevers was followed by a throng of mostly female swimmers — and their mothers — who had camera phones ready for the first available opportunity to grab a photo with the 100 backstroke Olympic champion.

Check out this video for a glimpse of what it's like to be Matt Grevers at a swim meet:

After the photo session, Grevers did an interview with new teammate Robert Hurley, talking about what the Australian is bringing to each training session. Hurley is new to the short course yards scene, and he relives swimming his first yards race and what he thinks of the college swimming experience.
