FINA World Short Course Championships: Zhao Jing Sets Meet Record in 50 Back

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 19. CHINA's Zhao Jing put together the second-ranked effort in the women's 50 back with a winning meet-record time at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

Zhao ripped off a 26.27 in the sprint back for the win, coming up short of Gao Chang's top-ranked time of 26.00 set at the Beijing stop of the World Cup circuit. Zhao's time beat the shared meet record of 26.37 clocked by both Sanja Jovanovic (2008) and Zhao earlier in the meet.

Australia's Rachel Goh finished second overall in 26.54, while Spain's Mercedes Peris Minguet grabbed third in 26.80 to down the Spanish record of 26.89 she set last year.

Japan's Miyuki Takemura (26.91), Gao (27.00), Russia's Anastasia Zueva (27.01), Belarus' Aleksandra Gerasimenya (27.02) and Brazil's Fabiola Molina (27.67) also competed in the finale.
