DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, December 18. USA's Ryan Lochte will be looking for an IM world-record sweep during finals of the men's 100 IM at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

Lochte, who already downed the world records in the 200 and 400 IMs earlier in the meet, set an American record in the sprint medley with a blazing time of 50.81. That swim eclipsed his American record of 51.15 set two years ago in Manchester, which stood as the meet record as well. He just missed Peter Mankoc's world record of 50.76, but will have another run at it during the finale.

Germany's Markus Deibler raced to second in 52.08 to beat the German record of 52.11 set by Thomas Rupprath in 2009. Australia's Kenneth To grabbed third in 52.16, while Trinidad's George Bovell III snared fourth in 52.23.

Japan's Takuro Fujii (52.43), Russia's Sergey Fesikov (52.51), Canada's Jake Tapp (52.62) and Brazil's Henrique Rodrigues (52.70) also moved into the finale. World-record holder Mankoc, however, missed the finale with a ninth-place 52.80.
