FINA Announces Pair of Water Polo Anti-Doping Punishments

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, February 28. RECENTLY, FINA announced a pair of water polo-related anti-doping punishments.

Finland's Juha Korhonen tested positive for Testosterone following an out-of-competition doping control test, and was sanctioned with two years of ineligibility by the Finnish Swimming Association beginning Jan. 31, 2012. The test took place on Sept. 28, 2011.

Meanwhile, Botond Szalma, who is listed as from both Hungary and The Netherlands, tested positive for Cannabis on Nov. 20,2011 following a doping control test in conjunction with a water polo match that took place in Borculo, The Netherlands. The Royal Dutch Swimming Federation implemented a five-month ban beginning Dec. 15, 2011.
