Featured Swim Camp of the Week: SpeedWeeks

SpeedWeeks

Twice a week over the next few months, Swimming World Magazine will feature a camp specializing in teaching swimmers how to improve their technique, swim faster and have fun with some of the biggest names in swimming. Motivation is the part of every package! Programs may include day and overnight camps as well as distance and stroke specialization. This week we are featuring SpeedWeeks.

The Swimming Technology Research SpeedWeeks camp totally focuses on improving your technique to swim faster. We are the only camp with documented research showing improvement from one week comparable to one year of traditional training.

STR camps are conducted by Dr. Rod Havriluk – an expert in biomechanics who specializes in optimizing technique, accelerating skill learning, and avoiding shoulder injuries. He is a widely published author and a frequent speaker at swimming conferences.

Guest experts speak on sport psychology, strength training, nutrition, physical therapy and physiology. Campers are evaluated on key performance indicators including muscle fiber composition, muscular imbalances, and swimming-specific flexibility and strength. Technique instruction includes a biomechanical model of optimal technique, cue-focused practice, skill-isolation drills, speed progression exercises, and other deliberate practice strategies that accelerate skill learning. Each camper is thoroughly analyzed on each stroke with quantitative force data from Aquanex that is synchronized with underwater video. The analysis reinforces positive technique elements and clearly identifies limitations. Most importantly, swimmers learn how to continue to benefit from our unique strategies when they return to regular training.

SpeedWeeks camps are limited to 12 participants to insure maximum individual attention from Dr. Havriluk.

We work with every level of swimmer up to and including Olympians and we guarantee we can show every swimmer how to swim faster.
