Family Legacy: Alexis Schaffer to Join Sisters at UCLA in 2023

Alexis Schaffer UCLA

NEW COMMIT: It will be a Schaffer sister reunion in Los Angeles in 2023, as Alexis Schaffer of Mountain View, California, has verbally committed to UCLA. Her older sisters, Brooke Schaffer and Taylor Schaffer, are currently on the team.

Their father, Greg Schaffer, also swam for UCLA. He was an eight-time All-American and earned silver in the 200 breast at the 1992 NCAA Championships.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UCLA!! A huge thank you to friends, family, and coaches for supporting me along the way. I can’t wait to be a part of this amazing team! Go Bruins!!”

Schaffer, who does her club swimming with Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics and is a Futures qualifier, achieved five lifetime bests at College Station Sectionals back in March, placing 19th in the 50 free.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 23.79
  • 100 free – 51.39
  • 200 free – 1:52.17
  • 100 fly – 56.51

A rising senior at Saint Francis Mountain View High School, Schaffer raced to 16th in the 100 free at the CIF State Championships this past season. She placed sixth in the 100 free and ninth in the 50 free at the CIF Central Coast Section Champion, too.

She will suit up for the Bruins in their Class of 2027 along with Elena Dry.
