European Juniors, Day 4 Prelims: Vivien Jackl Navigates 200 Fly & 800 Free Double

Vivien Jackl returned to the Munich pool the morning after winning 1500 free silver for a double tilt in the 200 fly and 800 free prelims on day four of the European Junior Championships.

The 200 fly was first up with Jackl posting the top time of 2:12.95 ahead of Boroka Kertesz (2:13.32) as the Hungarian duo filled the top two slots into the semis with Serafima Fokina third swiftest in 2:13.90.

She dusted herself down and returned for the 800 free – in which she won silver at Vilnius 2024 – where she qualified second for the final in 8:39.02 behind Neutral Athlete Sofia Diakova (8:36.58).

Mikolaj Litborski of Poland led the men’s 800 free in 8:00.48 with last year’s silver medallist Grigorii Vekovishchev posting 8:00.58.

Kira Manokhina was almost a second clear in the women’s 100 free with the Neutral Athlete going 54.07, the morning after 50 free bronze. Hannah Capron of Great Britain qualified second in 55.03.

Simon Laviolette returned the morning after his 200IM bronze to head the field in the long medley. The Belgian stopped the clock in 4:23.35 ahead of Neutral Athlete Denis Piataikin (4:23.70).

Italy headed the mixed medley relay in  3:51.53 ahead of Great Britain (3:52.54) and the AIN squad (3:53.02).
