European Championships: Olga Beresnyeva Wins Women’s 25K

BUDAPEST, Hungary, August 8. UKRAINE's Olga Beresnyeva won the women's 25K open water event to close out the open water portion of the 2010 European Championships.

Beresnyeva touched out Germany's Angela Mauer, 5:48:10.2 to 5:48:10.3, in an exciting finish for a nearly six-hour race. Italy's Martina Grimaldi placed third in 5:48:30.8. Spain's Margarita Dominguez touched at the same time as Grimaldi (5:48:30.8) according to the clock, but is listed fourth in the official rankings.

The Netherlands' Linsy Heister (5:48:58.0), France's Celia Barrot (5:49:55.5), Russia's Anna Uvarova (5:49:57.4) and Croatia's Karla Sitic (5:50:39.3) completed the top eight finishers.
