NEW COMMIT: Orinda, Calif. native Emmie Appl has committed to Pomona College and will suit up for the Sagehens in the fall of 2020.

Primarily a breaststroker, Appl does her club swimming with Orinda Aquatics and most recently earned a best time at the Pacific Swimming Senior meet in November. She earned bronze in the 100m breast at Far Westerns this past summer and grabbed silver in the 200 IM at the WCAB Senior Winter Championships last year. Also competing for The College Prep School, Appl raced to 11th place in the 100 breast at the CIF North Coast Section Championships during her junior season.

She told Swimming World:

“I am thrilled to announce my commitment to swim and study at Pomona College. The positive energy that I felt from the team while I was on campus, as well as the high academic standards, made it easy to choose Pomona. I can’t wait to continue my education in such a supportive environment full of compassionate people. Go Hens!”

Her best times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:05.78
  • 200 breast – 2:20.99
  • 200 IM – 2:09.25
  • 50 free – 25.01
  • 100 free – 53.92

Appl will make an immediate impact both individually and on relays when she arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2024 as her best times already rank near the top of Pomona’s lineup. She’ll add her talents to a training group that’ll include Alex Gill and Summer Will.
