Eindhoven Cup: Flash Randall Bal Downs 50 Back World Record

EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, December 5. WHILE most of his countrymen are battling it out in short course yard competition across the United States, Randall Bal is enjoying his time at the Eindhoven Cup in The Netherlands. He's enjoyed it so much, he just broke the 50 back world record in long course swimming.

Bal clocked a time of 24.33 to crush the world record of 24.47 set by Liam Tancock in April at the British Championships.

Nick Driebergen finished second in 25.85, while Guy Barnea took third in 26.41.

Notably, the swim also broke the American record of 24.71 set by Ben Hesen during a time trial at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials held in Omaha.
