Edmonton Keyano Swim Club Hires Steve Price as Head Coach

EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada, September 4. EDMONTON Keyano Swim Club has announced the hiring of Steve Price to take on the role of Director of Swimming/Head Coach.

According to the release, Price has nearly 30 years of coaching experience, 15 of those in Senior/Head Coach roles in Canada and Ireland. He has roughly 20 years of experience coaching athletes at the national and international levels, at events such as Canada Games, Pan Pac, World Cup, Pan Am Games and the Olympic Games.

"Although I am saddened to be leaving Swim Ireland after a successful six months, the opportunity to come home to Canada and take over the reigns of the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club is fantastic," Price said in a statement. "The Executive committee has demonstrated to me that they are very committed to moving the Keyano Swim Club to the world class status it once enjoyed. This program has produced World records and Major Games medals in the past and should expect nothing less.

"My immediate goals will be to assess the program operationally, increase the membership, attract the best coaching staff possible and work with the Executive committee to produce a winning program," Price continued. "We will also work with the University of Alberta to deliver the senior end of the program. The Keyano Swim Club will be a 'destination program' where any swimmer in Canada can come to excel. The club has the swimmers, the facilities and the resources to make it happen so it's just a matter of time."

Price will replace long-time EKSC head coach Marc Tremblay, who left EKSC in August.
