East Carolina Sweeps William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia, October 27. THE East Carolina swimming and diving teams remained undefeated after both the men and women's teams defeated William & Mary in a dual meet on Friday.

The Lady Pirates improved to 4-0 with a 133-110 victory, while their male counterparts posted a 144-97 win to improve to 3-0 this season.

"We swam extremely fast this afternoon," said Pirate head coach Rick Kobe. "This is a very difficult place to swim and I'm very proud of the way we performed today."

Freshman Kristian Ramkvist won all three events in which he participated. He took first place honors in the 200-yard IM (1:57.13) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.10), while helping the 400-yard medley relay team to a first place finish.

Junior Megan Pulaski recorded her fastest times of the season in both the 500-yard (5:02.89) and 1,000-yard (10:15.46) freestyle, placing first in each event, as she was the only other member of the team to win a pair of individual events.

ECU swept four of the men and women's events. Senior Matt Donohue (1:56.93) and Kate Gordon (2:05.80) posted first place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly, while sophomore Allison Miller (2:07.35) and junior Greg Neville (1:54.98) touched first in the 200-yard backstroke.

Freshman Jacquelynn Jones helped the Pirates complete the sweep of the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:08.12.

The foursome of Katlin Potts, Jennie Meade, Rachel Blue and Gordon earned a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:33.62.

Junior divers Ryan Hunt and Christie Icenhower set varsity records on the 11 dives one-meter boards.
