Eamon Sullivan Supports Nick D’Arcy, Kenrick Monk; Calls Swimming Australia Hypocritical
SYDNEY, Australia, June 10. SHORTLY after the Australian Olympic Committee and Swimming Australia decided to ban Nick D'Arcy and Kenrick Monk from social media as well as cut their Olympic outings short, Eamon Sullivan took up for D'Arcy and Monk calling Swimming Australia hypocritical after sponsoring a gun range bonding exercise with the Aussie swim team in 2007.
“We were on team camp in Canberra, I don't remember which year it was, but we went to a gun range, had a bit fun, had a bonding session,” Sullivan told Channel 9. “There was nothing wrong then so I don't see what is the difference is now.”
The gun range outing even included images of Libby Trickett actually firing a gun, and not just posing with one.
“They haven't really done anything wrong,” Sullivan told Channel 9. “Shooting is an Olympic sport – shooters don't get in trouble for posing in their Speedos.”
