Duquesne Scores Pair of 2021 Verbal Commitments from Haley Scholer & Hayley Taylor

NEW COMMITS: Duquesne University has earned a pair of verbal commitmentsfor the 2021-22 season and beyond from Jamison, Penn. native Haley Scholer and Hayley Taylor of Frederick, Md. both of whom will arrive in Pittsburgh as members of the Dukes’ class of 2025.

Primarily a backstroker, Scholer swims year-round with Penn Charter Aquatic Club and has achieved the Winter Juniors cut in the 200 back. Last summer, she placed seventh in the 200m back at Metropolitan LCM Seniors before going on to take 10th in that event at Geneva Futures. Also competing for Central Bucks South High School, she finished 11th in the 200 IM and 15th in the 100 back at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships as a sophomore.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 56.34
  • 200 back – 2:00.40
  • 200 IM – 2:05.84
  • 400 IM – 4:29.95

Also a talented backstroker, Taylor does her club swimming with Monocacy Aquatic Club and owns the Winter Juniors standard in the 100 back. She earned five best times at the NBAC Christmas Invitational last month where her highest finish was a runner-up showing in the 100 back. A current junior at Oakdale High School, she notched 100% lifetime bests at Geneva Futures this past summer.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.47
  • 100 back – 55.31
  • 200 back – 1:59.14
  • 200 IM – 2:07.71
