Duke University head swimming and diving coach Dan Colella and his staff announced Tuesday, June 16 the addition of swimmer Anna Quinn to the women’s program for the 2015-16 campaign.

“Anna is a welcome addition to our program and will add even more depth in both the 100 and 200 fly,” Colella said. “She will be competitive in season, at ACCs and, having just missed NCAAs last year, hopefully at NCAAs. She has a tremendous work ethic both in the pool as well as in the classroom.  Anna is very interested in pre-med and is looking forward to participating in our unique CAPE [Collegiate Athlete Pre-medical Experience] program. We look forward to her arrival in August.”

Quinn, a butterfly and freestyle specialist from Santa Rosa Valley, Calif., spent her freshman season at UCLA. As a rookie she ranked among the Bruins’ top performers in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:34.36), 100 butterfly (53.95), 200 butterfly (1:57.25) and in the 400 IM (4:30.18).

She took fifth in the 200 butterfly ‘A’ final at the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championships while surpassing the NCAA provisional standard in the event. Quinn also made the 100 and 200 butterfly bonus finals at the 2015 Pac-12 Championships.

A 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier in the 200 butterfly, Quinn completed her prep career under the direction of Thomas Smith at Thousand Oaks High School in Thousand Oaks, Calif. She was twice named Ventura County’s Swimmer of the Year and was a four-time first team all-county selection.

Quinn earned National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association High School All-America accolades on five occasions and was a four-time all-league selection and four-time league MVP. In addition to being a six-time champion at the Ventury County Championship and at the Marmonte League Championship, she took third in the 100 butterfly at the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) meet for three consecutive seasons (2012-14).

Quinn is a member of the club team Conejo Simi Swim, competing for coach Lauren Hancock, a former Blue Devil swimmer (2001-04). Quinn previously qualified for Summer and Winter Junior Nationals, taking eighth in the 200 fly at Winter Nationals in 2013 and 2014.

A three-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American in high school, Quinn was also one of Thousand Oak’s valedictorians and a four-time scholar-athlete.
