Drury vs. Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas, January 29. IN the dual-season finale, the Arkansas Razorbacks swim and dive team (9-2, 2-1) blasted into the record books and sent the seniors out in style with a 190-76 win over Division II defending champions Drury on Saturday, Jan. 29 at the Arkansas Natatorium.

Freshman diver Kesha Naylor effortlessly made her way into the Arkansas record books as she broke the three-meter diving record with a mark of 348.6. The record was standing for eight years. She came back on the platform to break teammate Liana Bugslag's record with 286.43 points. Bugslag was not far behind, improving on her record setting score with 283.43. She now holds four of the top five marks on the platform record list.

"Considering we have not competed a lot on platform, that has been our focus since the winter training trip," diving coach Dale Schultz said. "Liana and Kesha did very well competing against each other. When you've got a good teammate, you can't afford to miss a dive. On springboard, Naylor and Roman did extremely well and we are looking for really big things from all of them at conference."

Alex Roman set a new career-best mark on the three meter with 337.65, good for second place. Alyssa Tomlinson also improved her lifetime best with 247.65.

The Razorbacks had a stout performance as they topped all but two events at their home pool. Freshman Gabirjela Korac paced the 100 breaststroke with the second best time of the season (1:03.62) while fellow freshman Kelsea Vance shattered her career-best time in the 100 backstroke with 56. 67.

"First I want to recognize our seniors, they've had a big impact on our program over the last four years," head coach Jeff Poppell said. "We had a handful of individuals that we needed to see some things from in order to make our roster for conference and they did a fantastic job."

Erica Totten left an impression with the fastest time in the 500 freestyle. She paced the event with a time of 4:52.27. Chelsea Franklin was just behind the senior with 4:56.89. Totten also topped the 200 butterfly with 2:01.08, less than one second off from her career-best time. Senior Jamie Marks followed in the 200 fly, posting 2:02.99. Lisa Lunkenheimer kept the trend going with a win in the 100 fly. She posted 56.20.

The Razorbacks now focus on the Southeastern Conference Championships coming in February. The divers head to Gainesville, Fla., on Feb. 11-13 while the swimmers compete Feb. 16-19 in Florida.
