Dr. Jeff Huber Named to USA Diving Coaching Staff for World Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana, May 18. INDIANA head diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber was named to the USA Diving coaching staff for the 2009 FINA World Championships, July 17-25 in Rome.

Hongping Li of the Trojan Dive Club was selected as the head coach, and Georgia Diving's Dan Laak was named the assistant coach. Miami Diving's Randy Ableman, Longhorn Aquatics' Matt Scoggin and Huber round out the official coaching staff.

Huber will not be the only Hoosier making the trip to Italy as earlier this year recent IU graduate Christina Loukas earned a spot on the team in the one-meter and three-meter springboard competition. Loukas is the 2009 NCAA Champion in the three-meter and competed at the 2008 Olympics in the event, finishing ninth. She won her third USA Diving. National Title on the one-meter springboard at the Spring Nationals in April.

"I am excited to once again help coach the U.S. World Team in Rome," Huber said. "Now that the season has concluded with the FINA-USA Grand Prix, Christina will have a chance to get away from the pool for a short time and then focus on peaking for Worlds in July."
