NEW COMMIT: Northwood, New Jersey’s Kyle Iorizzo has given his verbal commitment to swim for Rider University beginning next fall. Iorizzo is a senior at Norther Valley Old Tappan High School. He does his club swimming for New Jersey Wave Scarlet Aquatics Club in Paramus, New Jersey.

In 2016 he was the Bergen County Co-Champion in the 500 free and finished seventh in the event at the New Jersey State Finals.

His top SCY times include:

  • 500 Free 4:38.79
  • 1650 Free 15:59.59
  • 100 Fly 53.47
  • 200 Fly 1:53.87

He’s a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 800 and 1500 freestyles. His top LCM times are:

  • 400 Free 4:04.36
  • 800 Free 8:23.25
  • 1500 Free 15:59.84
  • 200 Fly 2:05.63

Iorizzo said of his decision,

“I am really excited to swim for Rider. I felt at home when I met with the team and the coach and I feel I can excel and contribute and still pursue my studies. Looking forward to next year: Go Broncs!”

The Broncos are the defending MAAC Champions. Iorizzo should score points in the team’s efforts to repeat. At last year’s meet his best 500 would have placed 11th. Rider sophomore Vincent Gibbons (4:37.18 prelims) was eighth. He’ll overlap with Iorizzo for a year. His best 1650 would have placed sixth last year. Marist’s only higher finisher was Evan Nilsson (15:36.44). He’ll be a junior next fall.
