Each week, USA Swimming releases their top 20 zone times. Swimming World will provide a unique analysis of the zones each week. Here, you’ll find the zones’ strengths, top athletes, and top times.

With LSC Championships luring, opportunities for new top times in the USA Swimming zones were few and far between. Nonetheless, there were a handful of swimmers who managed to add their name to the top of their zone’s list.

Due to the small number of changes, we’re changing our zone coverage format for the week and will recognize the individuals who topped their respective zones.

Boys:

Dare Rose added a top time in the Eastern Zone in the 12-year old boys’ 50-meter free in 26.45. The Scarlet Aquatics swimmer now holds the fastest times in the 50, 100, and 200-meter free. Also in the Eastern Zone, Patrick Lacore, 14, now leads in the 200-meter IM with a 2:15.67.

Noah Woods swam the top 100-meter back for the 14-year old boys in the Central Zone with a 59.33.

In the Southern Zone, Liam Custer has taken the top spot in the 11-year old boys’ 1500-meter free after gutting out a 19:33.64 last weekend. Braeden Knight hit the top time for the 12-year old boys’ 50-meter free with his 26.77. Mikael Getahoun swam the fastest 200-meter fly for the 13-year old boys in a solid 2:16.88, besting the previous mark by nearly two seconds.

Evan Vanbrocklin swam a 2:34.01 200-meter fly to etch his name at the top of the list for the Western Zone’s 11-year old boys.

Girls:

In the Eastern Zone, Briana Gellineau swam a 2:09.28 200-meter free to top the list for the 12-year old girls. Margaret Aroesty, 16, also hit zone-best times for the zone in the 100-meter breast (1:12.03) and 200-meter breast (2:35.96).

In the Central Zone, Ohio State Swim Club’s Kate Saczawa busted out a zone-best 27.69 50-meter free for the 13-year old girls. Marcie McNichols also swam a top time in the 18-year old girls 50-meter free with a 26.38.

Sara Stotler, who already holds a number of zone bests in the Southern Zone for the 11-year old girls, added the 200-meter free to her repertoire with her 2:15.91. Gretchen Walsh busted out three zone bests for the 12-year old girls in the 50-meter free (27.64), 100-meter free (59.30), and 200-meter IM (2:27.94). Nashville Aquatic Club’s Alex Walsh (100-meter back, 200-meter back, and 100-meter fly) and Ella Nelson (200-meter IM and 400-meter IM) topped the 13-year old girls age group as well. Tatum Wade, also from NAC, notched the best 200-meter fly for 17-year old girls with her 2:16.85.

Kelly Huffer was the lone change atop the Western Zone with her 2:16.90 200-meter fly for the 15-year old girls age group.
