Denison Men, Kenyon Women Top CSCAA Division III Poll

SOMERS, Wisconsin, January 30. WITH seventeen first-place votes the Denison University men's and Kenyon College women's (twenty-one first-place votes) swimming and diving teams remained atop the CollegeSwimming.com/ CSCAA Division III Poll. Both squads have led the respective polls since the start of the season.

In the men's poll there were no changes among the top four teams. Following Denison, Kenyon received six first-place votes to rank second. Johns Hopkins and Emory – which will face one another Saturday – rank third and fourth. men's programs. Kenyon, which suffered a 123-120 loss to Denison in the Fall semester ranked second. Johns Hopkins and Emory, ranked third and fourth respectively, will face one another this Saturday. Washington University (5th) and Williams (6th) traded places. The voters rewarded Washington & Lee for a strong showing against Johns Hopkins by moving the Generals past St. Olaf to 7th. De Pauw remained in 9th while the University of Chicago made the biggest move. The Maroons cracked the top ten with wins over Kalamazoo and Carthage (both ranked 13th).

There was no change among the top six women's teams though there was considerable consolidation. Denison moved into a tie with Emory for second in the poll while Amherst, with one first-place vote, sits in fourth just two points behind. The Lord Jeffs already posted wins over NESCAC rivals Williams and Middlebury which ranked fifth and sixth respectively. Washington University moved up two places into a tie with Johns Hopkins for seventh place. Wheaton College slipped a spot to ninth while Calvin College remained in tenth.

Four teams made their first appearance in the twenty-five debut. On the men's side, the Coast Guard Academy beat MIT (which fell to 18th) to debut at twenty-fourth while Westminster's upset of PAC rival Grove City (previously ranked-19th) moved the Titans into the for the first time. Whitworth entered the poll at 21st while a win over SUNY-New Paltz propelled SUNY-Geneseo into the top twenty-five.

The CollegeSwimming.com / CSCAA Division III Dual Meet Poll is voted on by members of the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America and released four times throughout the season – November 21 (pre-invitational, December 12 (post-invitational), January 29 (pre-conference) and March 6 (post-conference).
