The 2017 Speedo Sectional Series in Christiansburg, Virginia, will be held March 30-April 2. The meet is hosted by Virginia Swimming.
Egg Harbor’s Maggie Wallace is the top seed in the women’s 1000 and mile and is currently second in the 500. Delaware Swim Team’s Olivia Paoletti is the top qualifier in the women’s 100 breast and 200 IM and is the second seed in the 200 breast and 400 IM.
Delaware Swim Team’s Jacob Johnson holds the top seed in four events. His time in both the men’s 100 and 200 fly is three seconds ahead of the field while his 200 IM is the only time seeded under 1:50. The high school junior, who also holds the fastest seed in the 200 back, is scheduled to compete in the 400 IM, 50 free, and 100 back as well.
Johnson’s teammate Matthew Otto is the top seed in both men’s breaststroke events and is the only swimmer under the two-minute barrier in the 200. Egg Harbor’s Justin Liu is the top seed in both the men’s sprint events while Lancaster’s Arthur Markley is well ahead of the field in the men’s 1000 and 1650.
Virginia Tech’s Colin Murphy, swimming unattached this weekend, is the top seed in the men’s 200 and 500 free. Unattached Virginia Tech swimmer Maggie Gruber is also the top seed in both women’s butterfly events.
On both the men and women’s sides, Nation’s Capital holds the top seed time in all five relays.
