Queens University of Charlotte and Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Planning and Leadership Development/Director of Swimming Operations Jeff Dugdale are pleased to announce the 2018-19 men’s and women’s swimming schedules.

“Our schedule this year is strategic and purposeful in our quest to have another successful NCAA run,” said Dugdale. “We have a very young program and I am going to try to provide them with many opportunities to gain valuable experiences that will be useful to them at the championships.”

Queens unofficially opens the season on Friday, September 14 with the team’s annual Blue/Gold Instrasquad meet inside the Levine Center.

The Royals, winners of the last four NCAA Division II Swimming National Championships, begin their title defense on the weekend of Sept. 21-22 when the men host Davidson College on Friday evening, followed by a tri-meet with the women from Queens, Davidson and UNC Asheville on Saturday morning.

Queens competes in the Open Water Collegiate Cup in Southern Pines, N.C. the following weekend before the men and women both host the University of Indianapolis and Wingate University on Oct. 13-14 in Charlotte.

Following a road trip to swim against NCAA Division III power Emory University, the Royals return to the Queen City to host the team’s annual Fall Frenzy. The three-day event is scheduled for Nov. 16-18 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.

The Royals hit the road once again, closing out November by competing in the Frank Elm Invitational hosted by Rutgers University in Pascataway, New Jersey.

“We also hope to expand our brand recognition into the Atlanta area, into New Jersey and Big Ten Conference member Rutgers,” Dugdale continued. “We have a little of everything for our very talented program.”

A return from the university’s winter break sees Queens host Bluegrass Mountain Conference foe Catawba College on January 11 where the team will honor its senior class. The Royals travel to Durham, N.C. the following day to compete against NCAA Division I Duke University.

After closing out the regular season on Jan. 25-26 at the South Carolina College Invitational in Columbia, S.C., the Royals will look to defend their four-year reign as the top team in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships on February 6-9 at MCAC.

Queens final meet of the season takes place March 13-16 in Indianapolis as the Royals men and women each vie for their fifth straight national title.

The Department of Athletics at Queens University of Charlotte is a leading NCAA Division II program in the United States distinguished by its commitment to transforming the lives of its students, and consistently competing at the highest possible levels. Housing 30 varsity level sports, the Royals are a member of the South Atlantic Conference with the men’s and women’s swimming teams competing in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference.
