Dana Vollmer, Maggie Steffens, Ashleigh Johnson Lead 2 Years to Tokyo Youth Sport Clinic

Team USA Olympians and hopefuls joined nearly 100 local youth in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles, on Tuesday, July 24, for a 2 Years to Tokyo Youth Sport Clinic to commemorate the two year countdown to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The event is taking place at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center Plaza.

Eight Team USA athletes will participate in the clinic, leading exercises, giving motivational speeches and interacting with the kids, who will participate in basketball stations. The athletes include:

  • Katie Lou Samuelson, basketball, Youth Olympic Games gold medalist
  • Carlin Isles, rugby, 2016 Olympian
  • Dana Vollmer, swimming, 7-time Olympic medalist
  • Kendall Ellis, track and field, world champion
  • Alex Bowen, water polo, 2016 Olympian
  • Ashleigh Johnson, water polo, Olympic champion
  • Jesse Smith, water polo, Olympic silver medalist
  • Maggie Steffens, water polo, 2-time Olympic champion

The youth clinic is being hosted by the U.S. Olympic Committee and Terasaki Budokan of Little Tokyo Service Center, in conjunction with LA 2028, Japanese American Cultural & Community Center, Kizuna and SoCal Supreme.
