Cullen Jones Nominated for Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, November 30. AS part of its annual award process, Sports Illustrated has announced the 2010 nominees for the Sportsman of the Year award. SwimMAC's Cullen Jones made the final cut primarily due to his involvement with the learn-to-swim Make a Splash campaign.

Jones is vying to become just the second swimmer to win the award behind Michael Phelps' win for his eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Jones was nominated along with Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga, Chilean Miner Edison Pena, Lakers forward Ron Artest, Tennis' Francesca Schiavone, San Francisco Giants, Golfer Martin Kaymer, Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, Sports Legacy Institute Founder Chris Nowinski, Preps Coach Shawn Berner, Golfer Graeme McDowell, Penguins center Sidney Crosby, Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, UConn Coach Geno Auriemma, Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, Figure skater Evan Lysacek, Tennis star Rafael Nadal, Thunder forward Kevin Durant, Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay, Butler Bulldogs Basketball, Golfer Lorena Ochoa, Capitals left wing Brooks Laich and Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy.
