Croatia Long Course Championships: Six Swimmers Close Meet With Multiple Wins

RIJEKA, Croatia, July 15. THE Croatian Long Course Championships wrapped up this evening with finals in four events. Six swimmers — Ana Grgic, Niksa Roki, Mario Todorovic, Dora Kamenjarin, Ana Radic and Sanja Jovanovic — all added to their win totals tonight as the meet concluded in Rijeka.

Dora Kamenjarin claimed the first event of the night with a 4:27.99 in the women's 400m free, with Anja Trisic nine tenths behind in 4:28.89. Ana Matkovic, already a multi-time medalist this weekend, took third in 4:33.75. Mateo Muzek dominated the men's event with a five second victory. His time of 4:02.51 bettered Ivan Kristo (4:07.41) and Sasa Kuznar (4:07.99).

Ana Grgic swept the 100m and 200m back events with a victorious time of 1:04.10 tonight in the shorter distance. Katarina Rados picked up a silver medal in 1:04.45 while Matea Samardzic earned bronze (1:05.60). In the men's event, Teo Kolonic claimed a half second victory in 56.91, with Roko Simunic in second (57.38) and Sasa Gerbec (57.53) in third.

Ana Radic posted consistent splits through the women's 200m breast en route to a final time of 2:35.46, well ahead of Gabrijela Korac's 2:39.17. Edda Skoric finished a distant third in 2:45.71. Meanwhile, Niksa Roki swam the only sub-2:20 performance of the day to win the men's race in 2:19.23. Matej Maras earned a silver medal after turning in a time of 2:21.32. Grga Bilonic grabbed the bronze in 2:23.04.

Sanja Jovanovic raced to a win in the final women's event of the meet, the 100m free. She posted a 56.98 to claim gold over Zeljana Knezevic (57.90) and Andrijana Bencic (58.42). Mario Todorovic earned a win in the last men's race with a 50.50. Ivan Levaj also squeezed in under 51 with a 50.98. Mihael Vukic placed third in 51.20.
