Cora Cummings Gauvin Joins Vermont Swimming and Diving Coaching Staff

BURLINGTON, Vermont, September 1. CORA Cummings Gauvin will join the University of Vermont swimming and diving team as a volunteer assistant coach this season. Head coach Gerry Cournoyer made the announcement today.

"I am very excited to have Cora join our staff," said Cournoyer. "Cora's knowledge and love of the sport will be a great asset to our program."

A 2000 graduate of the University of Vermont, Gauvin was the swim coach for Green Mountain Aquatics and the head swim coach at the Burlington Tennis Club prior to joining the Catamount staff. She guided the Burlington Tennis Club to win the championship in the Champlain Valley Swim League and the Vermont State Swim Association in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Gauvin joins a Vermont team that posted its best finish in school history at the America East Championship last season, with three individual champions and one relay championship, as well as breaking nearly every school record.

The Catamounts open the 2009-10 season on October 9 when they travel to face West Point in a meet with Boston College and America East member Stony Brook.
