Connecticut, Villanova vs. Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, New Jersey, November 1. THE University of Connecticut women's swimming and diving team split a pair of meet this weekend as it defeated Villanova by a score of 202-151 and lost to Rutgers 191-161. Meanwhile, the UConn men's team defeated Villanova by a 193-143 score. All three meets were contested over Friday and Saturday.

UConn junior Stephen Ferreira (Madison, Conn.) set a school record in the men's one-meter diving with a mark of 338.60.

Senior John Henry Dasinger (Madison, Miss.) had a successful day as he won the 50 meter freestyle and was second in the 200 yard butterfly and the 100 yard backstroke and was a member of four victorious relay teams.

On the women's side, freshman Caitlin Gallagher (Lawrence, Kansas) won the 200 yard breaststroke (2:19.99) and the 200 (2:07.50) and 400 yard IM (4:28.25).

Senior Danielle Sanders (Mississauga, Ont.) returned from an injury sustained last year to finish in second place in the 1,650 yard freestyle and was third in the 500 yard freestyle.

Both Husky teams return to action next Saturday when Army comes to Storrs for a 1:00 p.m. meet.
