Colorado Mesa Invite, Day One

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado, November 19. COLORADO Mesa men's swimming & diving team scored 562 points to take the lead after day one of the CMU Invitational at El Pomar Natatorium. Colorado School of Mines holds down second place with 415 points. CU-Boulder club team is third with 297 points, followed by Metro State club team (149) and Adams State (93).

Kent Stavrakas and All-American diver Brock Martin led the Mavericks with two first place finishes each. Stavrakas won the 50 fly in a time of 22.98. He swam to victory in the 100 freestyle in 47.18.

Martin won the 1-meter and 3-meter dive competitions. Martin posted a score of 299.2 points in the 1-meter and 276.7 points to capture the 3-meter.

Alejandro Hernandez won the 200 IM event in 1:56.51. Hernandez placed third in the 200 backstroke in a time of 1:58.16.

CMU swept the top four spots in the 50 backstroke. Cody Spencer hit the pad first in a time of 25.55. He was followed by teammates; Rob Eisendrath, Tyler Walton and Jason Dahlen.

Brian Lee placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.69) and Austin Detra finished third in the 500 free (4:53.34).

CMU will wrap-up the two-day meet beginning Sunday morning with prelims at 9:30 am. The finals are scheduled to begin at 3 pm.
