Class of 2011 Swimming World Six Star Gretchen Jaques Picks College

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 5. GRETCHEN Jaques, one of just four female Swimming World six stars in the Class of 2011, has chosen her college destination.

Jaques, who maintains her profile in the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings, is an immediate threat in the breaststroke who will be headed to the University of Texas after this year.

"Of the schools I considered, Texas was the best fit for me because of the exciting atmosphere of the program, the great academics, the enthusiastic coaching staff and my future Longhorn teammates are awesome," Jaques told Swimming World.

Jaques swims for BREA Aquatics and preps at Glendora High. Her top time in the 100-yard breast (1:00.03) would have qualified her for the A final at the 2010 NCAA Division I Championships. She also would have qualified to swim in the 200-yard IM (1:57.91) with her best time. Additionally, Jaques has a significant resume in long course meters with four long course senior national cuts: 50m free 26.26; 100m breast 1:11.05; 200m breast 2:33.20; 200m IM 2:17.54.
