Ohio State Swim Club’s Hans Kabelka has verbally committed to the University of Cincinnati. As a junior, Kabelka helped St. Charles Preparatory School to a Central District team championship and third-place finish at the 2016 Ohio High School Swimming Championships. At that meet he finished ninth (21.21) in the 50 freestyle and seventh in the 100 (46.26). In 21.20 he led off the team’s third place 200 freestyle relay.

His best yard times are:

  • 50 Free 21.02
  • 100 Free 45.97
  • 200 Free 1:41.93

Kabelka showed great improvement in a successful summer of long course swimming, posting several best times at Speedo Sectionals in Columbus. He secured a Winter Juniors cut in the 50 free (24.17) and a Summer Juniors mark in the 200 free (1:54.28). Kabelka provided a pivotal 23.44 anchor on the team’s 200 medley relay. That relay won the meet and finished the summer second (1:45.51) nationally among 15-18s.

Kabelka shared, “I can’t wait to be at UC! I love everything about it: the campus, the school, the coaching staff, and especially the team. It’s a great fit and I can’t see myself anywhere else. Go Bearcats!”

He’ll be an instant contributor for the Bearcats. His best 50 and 100 freestyle times would have earned him B final swims at last year’s American Athletic Conference Championship.
